Bayou Vista man arrested on several drug charges

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Russell Allen, 43, of La. 182 in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a Legend Drug (Zithromax) without a prescription, possession of a Legend Drug (Amoxil) without a prescription, possession of a Legend Drug (Zestil) without a prescription, and on a warrant for possession of Schedule IV (Soma), disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.

A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious person on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy located a male subject lying on the ground outside of a residence. The deputy made contact with the subject and identified him as Allen. Also, the deputy observed items of drug paraphernalia just outside the home on the ground. The deputy received consent to search the residence and located drugs, Hebert stated. The deputy also learned of the warrant for Allen’s arrest. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

—Tracie Silva, 48, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:03 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant from the Houma Police Department for theft.

—Areana Lee, 22, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:03 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks and on warrants from Morgan City Police Department for failure to appear.

A deputy responding to a request to remove a subject from Cajun Way Lane in Amelia made contact with two female subjects, Silva and Lee, and learned of the warrants for their arrests. Both were taken to the parish jail and held. Silva’s bail is set at $400. No bail is set for Lee.

—Frank Keller Jr., 25, of Two Sisters Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery and disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Two Sisters Court. During the investigation, the deputy determined that Keller and a female were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical encounter. During the altercation, Keller struck the female victim with his hand, Hebert stated. Keller was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $750.

—Teema Darby, 18, of Dorcey Road in New Iberia, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.

—Sabrina Moreaux, 21, of Willow Street in Franklin, was arrested at 3:14 p.m. Tuesday for principle to theft of goods and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.

A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security personnel that Darby was observed taking items and attempting to leave the store without paying for the goods, Hebert stated. During the investigation, the deputy determined that Moreaux had knowledge that Darby was taking the items, he stated. The two females had two juveniles with them at the time of the theft. Both were taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $2,000 for Moreaux and $2,000 for Darby.

—Kimberly M. Thompson, 26, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for issuing worthless checks. Thompson turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City after learning of the warrant. She was released on summons to appear in court on Sept. 3.

—Brian Henderson, 30, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday for domestic abuse battery. A deputy was contacted by the Patterson Police Department in reference to a report of a battery. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Henderson and a female victim were engaged in a verbal argument in a vehicle in the Bayou Vista area when Henderson struck the victim, Hebert stated. Henderson was located at his residence by Berwick Police. Following the investigation, Henderson was taken to the parish jail and held No bail is set.

—Chantal Ruffin, 23, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:15 a.m. today on a warrant for failure to appear on traffic offenses including driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a complaint on James Street. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Ruffin and learned of the warrant for her arrest. Ruffin was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $5,000.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:

—Lance Richard Knight, 35, of Thirteen Knight in Lockport, was arrested at 3:30 a.m. today for speeding and suspended driver’s license. Knight was released on $503 bail.

—Tim Rochel Jr., 23, of Laura Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 12:32 a.m. today for DWI first offense and speeding 57 mph in a 45 mph zone. Rochel is still being held.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
