Bayou Vista man arrested on multiple drug charges
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Brett Michael Sanders, 22, of Lagonda Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:11 p.m. Thursday for possession schedule III (Subutex), possession of synthetic cannabinoids second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Berwick area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to signal on Canton Street. The driver was identified as Sanders. Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located Subutex pills, synthetic cannabinoids, and a pipe, the report stated. Sanders was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Jermaine Joseph Gaskins, 32, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 5:59 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery and theft. A deputy located Gaskins on Friendship Alley on the warrant. Gaskins was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Michael Federer Jr., 22, of La. 182 in Patterson, was arrested at 8:09 p.m. Thursday for simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery on La. 182 in Patterson. During the investigation, the deputy learned that during a verbal argument, Federer pushed a female victim, the report stated. Federer was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $500.
—Lamonica Givens, 41, of Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy observed a vehicle driving through the median to turn around on U.S. 90 in Amelia and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver and identified her as Givens who was wanted on a warrant. Givens was released on a summons to appear in court on June 12.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Jordan Granger, 24, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:04 a.m. Thursday, for speeding 28 mph in a 15 mph zone, on a warrant for a probation violation, and on a warrant for failure to appear to pay probation fees.
Granger was stopped for speeding at Federal Avenue and Wise Street. Officers noted active warrants for his arrest. He was taken to jail and held with no bail set at this time.
—Harold Myers, 53, of Wiltz Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 9:17 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for the New Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear for a revocation hearing on charges of DWI second offense and improper lane usage.
Myers learned of the warrant for his arrest and turned himself in to Morgan City police. He was taken to jail and is awaiting transfer to New Iberia Sheriff’s Office.
—Marjorie Ruffin, 23, of Oneal Chube Street in Franklin, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of marijuana and on a probation violation.
Ruffin was located at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin and arrested. She was taken to jail and held with no bail set at this time.
—Shelly Acosta, 31, of Southwest Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:58 a.m. Thursday for possession of schedule V (Soma), DWI first offense, improper lane usage and a probation violation.
Police received a call of a reckless driver travelling east on Railroad Avenue near the area of 11th Street. Officers were advised that the vehicle was described as a white Toyota SUV. The vehicle was stopped at Myrtle Street and Railroad Avenue and upon coming into contact with the driver, identified as Acosta, the officer found her to be impaired, the report stated. She was also found to be in possession of several pills of suspected Soma. She was taken to jail and held with bail set at $15,300.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
