Bayou Vista man arrested on criminal neglect of family charge
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Leila Lane, 37, of U.S. 90 West in Franklin, was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant from Morgan City Police for telephone harassment. A deputy located Lane at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. Lane was taken to the Morgan City Police Department. No bail is set.
—Mario Verdun Jr., 36, of Seventy Nine Pines Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family and Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act. A deputy investigating a complaint made contact with Verdun at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City and learned of the warrants for his arrest. He was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $62,190.11.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrest:
—Wayne Singleton, 50, of Eleventh Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday for theft by shoplifting ($31.44).
Singleton was observed by a cashier walking out of Rouse’s with a carry basket of groceries. He was detained and questioned as to whether or not he had paid for them. He stated that he had not. He was arrested and taken to jail with bail set at $492.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
