Baldwin eyes saggy pants ordinance
Members of the Baldwin Board of Aldermen approved an ordinance Thursday addressing junk vehicles and other items on private property Tuesday, and introduced another banning “saggy pants” in the town.
The vehicle ordinance addresses vehicles, appliances, machinery, mobile homes, lumber, timber, trash and similar items. It authorizes police to address these items with warnings, citations and fines.
The ordinance dealing with saggy pants is virtually identical to the one passed by the St. Mary Parish Council Wednesday. It defines “pants, skirts or other clothing below the waist which expose the skin or undergarments.”
That ordinance will be voted on in July after a public hearing.
