Araujo leads Lady Tigers past South Lafourche
MORGAN CITY, La. — Carmen Araujo scored four goals, including a hat trick in a three-minute span, as the Morgan City Lady Tigers rolled past South Lafourche, 6-0, in non-district soccer action Wednesday at Tiger Stadium
Araujo netted goals in the 27th, 29th and 30th minutes.
Araujo scored again following halftime in the 47th minute, while teammate Shawn Guillot added the Lady Tigers’ other two goals, one in the 53rd minute and another in the 79th minute.
The Lady Tigers (5-4) will return to action Saturday and Sunday when they participate in the Hahnville tournament.
SLHS downs MCHS
Things started out great for the Morgan City Tigers (1-7) in Wednesday’s contest against South Lafourche as they jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead.
However, the visitors held the Tigers scoreless in the second half, while they rallied with four goals for a 4-3 win.
Morgan City’s goals came from Hector Calderon in the 22nd minute, Jose Zuniga in the 35th minute and Mario Sanchez in the 39th minute.
After tying the game at 3, South Lafourche got the winning goal via a deflection from a Morgan City defender.
The Tigers will continue their non-district schedule today and Saturday when they play in the Copa Cup Tournament.
