Angola Gospel Band comes to city

Franklin City Marshal David McCoy and the Acadiana Branch of the Magnolia State Peace Officers will present the Angola Gospel Traveling Band Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Franklin Senior High School auditorium.

Dubbed the “Gospel Explosion,” McCoy said, “This event will bring us together as a community with a purpose led by faith. This event will lift up the name of Jesus with singing and the word of God.”

In addition to the band, artists Charles “Butchie” McKinley, One Accord and Lavergne Singleton will appear, as well as other guests, McCoy said.

The event will also be a fundraiser for Franklin Emergency Aid Center, an agency of United Way of South Louisiana. Donations of non-perishable food or hygiene items will be accepted.
