Funeral services were conducted Monday, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church for Mrs. Evada J. Thomas, 78, a native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette. Father Andreas Kedati, S.V.D. officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

She died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at St. Martinville Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.

She is survived by one son, Irwin (Crystal) Thomas of Jeanerette; five daughters, Joyce Thomas, Norma (Theopolis) Marks, Barbara Thomas, Brenda Thomas, Carla (Orson) Gibson, all of Jeanerette; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Thomas Jr., parents, Fredrick and Mary Elouise C. Johnson; one sister, Yvonne J. Adams; and one grandson, Barry J. Thomas.

The Alex Lovett Funeral Services of Jeanerette were in charge of arrangements.
