GENEVIEVE BOURQUE
Genevieve "Gen" Eastwood Bourque, 79, a native of Massachusetts and long time resident of Franklin, died suddenly Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday at Ibert’s Mortuary from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.
Visitation will resume Wednesday, May 7 at Ibert’s from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Assumption, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
Mrs. Bourque moved to Franklin to wed her husband of 53 years, Joseph Allen Bourque on December 7, 1952. Together they were blessed with three daughters, Cindy B. Newton and her husband, Marion, of Baldwin; Debbie B. Taylor and her husband, Sherman, of New Iberia; and Michelle B. Frederick and her husband, Brad, of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Brady Newton and his wife, Brooke; Megan Newton, Justin Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Emily Taylor, Courtney Frederick, Colleen Frederick; one great grandchild, Brody Newton; and her sister, Irene Price of Fall River, Massachusetts.
Mrs. Bourque was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed countless hours with her grandchildren and was a loving aunt to all of her many nieces and nephews. She retired from her job as telephone operator to raise her family and later returned to work as a bookkeeper at St. Mary Hardware, where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of the Court Assumption Catholic Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Allen Bourque; parents, Jane and Edward Eastwood; and three brothers, James Eastwood, Johnny Eastwood and Harold Eastwood.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.
