SARAH BLAKESLEY
Mrs. Sarah "Sodie" Dumesnil Blakesley, 73, a native of Glencoe and a lifelong resident of Franklin, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Franklin Health Care Center.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Malcolm P. Blakesley of Franklin; two sons, Pat Blakesley and his wife, Tina, both of New Iberia, and Hilton Blakesley and his wife, Laurie, both of Franklin; three sisters, Barbara D. Delahoussaye of Crowley, Jean D. Jones of Lafayette and Myra D. Mouton of Scott; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hilton Dumesnil I; her mother, Beulah Poche Dumesnil; one son, Michael Blakesley; and her brother, Hilton Dumesnil II.
The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday, May 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin.
Visitation will resume Friday, May 9, at 9 a.m., at Ibert’s until time of services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Assumption, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
Mrs. Blakesley spent 10 years in the public school system and 30 years of dedicated service at St. John Elementary. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.
