AMELIA BAKER

Amelia "Peaches" Baker, 39, a resident of Verdunville and native of Lafayette (Katy, La.), died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 3:19 a.m., at Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center following a long illness.

She is survived by her spouse, Woodrow Baker of Verdunville; mother, Min. Geraldine Price Turner of New Iberia; stepfather, Cleveland (Maggie Jean) Brown Sr. of Thibodaux; two daughters, Wa’Andenia E. and Wymia L. Baker, both of Verdunville; one son, Wiluzziah E. Baker of Verdunville; four brothers, Pastor Ronnie Lee (Orelia) Brown of McDonough, Georgia, Charles Ray Brown Jr. of New Iberia, Edward Turner of Houston, Texas and Cleveland Brown Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; and three sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Mary Ann Brown) Rhine of Charenton, Shera Lynn Turner of New Iberia and Ruby Turner of Four Corners.

Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her father, one sister, one brother and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

She was employed by Arms of an Angel Health Care Svc., Premier Health Care and Donelson T. Caffery Jr. and Mrs. Lee Trowbridge as child care provider.

Visitation was observed Tuesday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Little Zion Baptist Church in Verdunville.

Funeral rites were held Tuesday, at noon, at that church, with Pastor Archbishop Bilber Sr. officiating.

The Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City was in charge of arrangements.
