FREDERICK STRUBB
Frederick "Fred" Strubb, 58, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at 9:20 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Misty S. Stovall and her husband, Dwight, of Franklin; his son, Lance A. Strubb of Franklin; two grandsons, Matthew A. Strubb and Jonathan P. Stovall, both of Franklin; his longtime companion, Linda Boudreaux of Centerville; two brothers, James Herbert Strubb and his wife, Sue, of Donaldsonville and Michael Strubb of Delcambre; two sisters, Christine S. Clements and her husband, Jimmy, of Franklin and Ethel S. Ward and her husband, Chris, of Parsons, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Strubb and Meryl Ibert Strubb; paternal grandparents, Frederick and Beatrice Strubb; and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Ethel Ibert.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.
Visiting will resume Tuesday at 9 a.m. until dismissal time at 12:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, July 15, at 1 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.
Fred was employed by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department for over 30 years, serving under three sheriffs, Chester Baudoin, Huey Bourgeois and present Sheriff David Naquin. He started his career as a dispatcher and worked his way up to Major, Division Commander, at the time of his retirement in 2008. Major Strubb has attended numerous schools and training in his career as a member of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Pallbearers will be Tim Cossey, Donnie Bourque, Chris Ward, Travis Clements, Rickey Bourque and Dwight Stovall.
Honorary pallbearers will be his son, Lance A. Strubb; grandchildren, Matthew A. Strubb and Jonathan P. Stovall; brothers, James and Michael Strubb; brother-in-law, Jimmy Clements; nephews, Troy and Trent Clements; Nicholas Strubb, Brent Ward and Sheriff David Naquin.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent and compassionate care provided by Dr. Roland Degeyter, Dr. David Rinaldi and the staff of Franklin Foundation Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1604 W. Pinhook Rd., Ste. 182, Lafayette, La. 70508, or to a charity of choice.
