Four applications were approved by Franklin Historic District Commission members meeting in regular monthly session Thursday.
Marcus John of Mark Credit Corp., at 820 Main Street, was granted approval to put up new signage on an existing metal pole, and add window lettering. The sign will require final approval by the commission after a design is settled upon by the owner.
Tony Scelfo of 304 Adams St., received approval to a laundry room and rear porch.
Linette Ribble of 921 Second St., received approval to construct a lean-to carport on the right side of the house.
Also approved was replacement of signage by Koji’s Signs at Capitol One Bank’s drive-through location on Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Certificates of appropriateness to allow Main Street applicants to submit facade grant requests to the state were issued to Danny Scelfo at EZ Phone Co., 814 Main St.; Chez Hope at 801 Main St.; Dan Darden at Four Seasons Furniture and Appliance at 701 Main St.; Michael Mire at Scelfo Cleaners, 703 Teche Drive; David Popkin, Popkin’s Jewelers at 615 Main St. with the exception of removal of the awning, and stipulation of paint removal done in a preservationist-approved manner, and David Wormser at 605 Main St.
The commission also is tackling unauthorized metal carports in the district and has been working with the owners to have those structures removed or modified to be acceptable by ordinance.
