A 5-year-old child apparently drowned some time during the night in the swimming pool of a Charenton residence.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff David Naquin said his officers were called to 4682 Chitimacha Trail at about 2 a.m.

Hayden Ladmirault, 5, was located in the family pool unresponsive. Acadian Ambulance transported the child to Franklin Foundation Hospital where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The sheriff’s office and St. Mary Parish Coroner are conducting an investigation. No other details were available this morning.
