Members of Franklin’s building maintenance panel met Wednesday to continue the process of addressing the city’s derelict, abandoned and other buildings in disrepair.
The commission recommended letters be sent to property owners, recommending demolition or repair, at 405 Calbert St., 406 Morris St., 520 Martin Luther King Blvd., 1064 Eagle St., 517 Sixth St. and 324 Third St.
Letters to specify exact repairs needed were sent to 215 Hamm St., 607 Willow St., 1062 Eagle St., 605 Fifth St., 604 Iberia St., 615 Ibert St., 602 Martin Luther King Blvd., 600 Martin Luther King Blvd., 611 Willow St., 505 Sixth St., 210 Hanson St., 413 Willow St., 415 Willow St., 310 Third St., 510 Sixth St., 515 Sixth St., 604 St. John St. and 305 Martin Luther King Blvd.
The commission advised owners of 318 Talbot St. that they need a city permit to continue demolition; sent correspondence to 508 Martin Luther King Blvd. to complete demolition and clean up the property, and another to 703 Pecot St. pointing out that while the structure was demolished and removed, an abandoned mobile home in the back of the lot also needs to be removed.
Letters were sent to the owner of both 633 Second St. and 615 Main St. inquiring as to what plans the owner has for the building, saying that they were told renovation work would begin this summer on both sites.
Also, an inspection will be conducted at 605 Main St. pending adding it to the board’s list of properties needing to be addressed.
