7 arrests connected to killing in Morgan City (updated with 2 arrests)

MORGAN CITY — Five more suspects were arrested Thursday after an investigation into the May 20 shooting death of a 23-year-old Morgan City man uncovered evidence that several people conspired to impede the ongoing homicide investigation, according to Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch.

The arrests were made in connection with the shooting death of Mikki Dauntain, 23, of Morgan City. Dauntain was shot May 20 in the Garber Street and Federal Avenue area during an altercation and eventually succumbed to his wounds, Crouch stated.

The accused shooter in the case, Justin Patterson, 24, of Front Street in Morgan City, surrendered to police May 21 and was charged with second degree murder, Crouch stated. Patterson remains in jail awaiting trial.

During the investigation, evidence was uncovered which implicated several people in a conspiracy to impede the continuing investigation, Crouch stated. It is alleged that as a result of the conspiracy between the parties, evidence in the case was tampered with or destroyed, and or fabricated in an effort to direct authorities from the true facts in the case, Crouch stated. Based on the evidence, arrest warrants were secured and the following suspects were arrested and taken to the Morgan City Jail.

—Jessicah Charisse Johnson, 20, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:01 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for principle to second degree murder. Johnson remains in jail on $150,000 bail.

—Cassandra Garrett, 49, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. Thursday on warrants for accessory after the fact to second degree murder and for criminal conspiracy to obstruct justice. Bail is set at $30,000. Garrett was released after posting bail.

—Lindsey Denise Guidry, 22, of Florence Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:11 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for accessory after the fact to second degree murder and obstruction of justice. Guidry remains in jail on $30,000 bail.

—Ashley Joseph Thomas, 44, of Elmer Street in St. Martinville, was arrested at 10:33 p.m. Thursday on warrants for accessory after the fact to second degree murder and on a warrant for criminal conspiracy to obstruct justice. Thomas was released on $75,000 bail.

—Etoyi Monray Jones, 37, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:47 p.m. Thursday on warrants for accessory after the fact to second degree murder and obstruction of justice. Jones remains in jail on $50,000.00.

On Tuesday, Linda Susie Madise, 37, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested on a warrant for accessory after the fact to second degree murder and obstruction of justice in connection to the homicide.

Due to the active investigation, no other information will be released at this time, Crouch stated.

Two more suspects were wanted Friday morning in connection with the homicide.

Joseph Patrick Madise and his daughter, Ashley Nicole Rudolph are wanted on outstanding warrants in connection with the homicide, Crouch stated.

Madise, 49, and Rudolph, 21, surrendered to police Friday afternoon.
