‘Love Letters’ opens Friday
The Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts will present A.R. Gurneys “Love Letters” starring Carolyn Higdon and Arthur Louviere this weekend.
Set for Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the show is an adult evening before the kids go back to school.
The show is an adult night of wine, relaxation, fun and laughter centered on the 50-year love story of Mellissa Gardner and Adam Makepeace Ladd III.
Ladd and Gardner, both born to wealth and position, are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards. Romantically attached, they continue to exchange letters through the boarding school and college years until Melissa’s untimely death, which makes it eloquently clear how much they really meant, and gave to, each other over the years — physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.
“Love Letters” is directed by Tyra Yarber. Admission is $10.
